Mehendi, also known as 'Henna', holds an integral part of Indian culture for over thousands of years.
Eastern Panorama Foundation in collaboration with JCI Kamrup Elite has taken the importance of Mehendi to a different height by coming up with an innovative idea of creating job oppurtunities, with a view to empower women and girls. The collaboration has brought "Mission 100" enabling women and girls to earn their livelihood and a way to be self-sufficient. The program 'Mission 100' aims to teach the females the art of Mehendi.
The Program was conducted from 2nd August- 11th August 2024 at Parijat Academy, Pamohi Garchuk where the session was conducted by Mehendi artist Son Jaiswal. This skill development program was organised by the General Secretary of Eastern Panorama Foundation Shri Harsh Jhunjhunwala, President JCI Kamrup & Vice President of the Eastern Panorama Foundation Mrs Madhulata Jhunjhunwala, Principal of Parijat Academy Mrs Dipanjali Bhagawati, and many others.
The students of the school greatly benefitted from this skill development classes and thoroughly enjoyed the training. The school coordinator requested that more such training sessions should be organized at the school to continue empowering women and girls. Learning Mehendi designs can be highly beneficial for unemployed women and girls, offering both financial oppurtunities and personal empowerment. One can take up freelancing for various occasions such as wedding, festivals, and other celebrations. The demand for mehendi artist is especially high during wedding seasons, which can provide a significant income boost.
It also opens door for a creative outlet that can enhance artistic skills such as, learning about patterns, symmetry and the use of different styles.
